A sanitation truck crashed into a doughnut shop in Winnetka Tuesday morning, resulting in the driver being transported to a hospital, authorities said.

The incident was reported at 7:41 a.m. at Sherman Way and Mason Avenue, said Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Jenny Houser.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said the injured man is a city employee who is in fair condition.

Houser said the trash truck crashed into a car and then struck the building.

A LAFD heavy rescue team pulled the truck from the structure while the department’s search and rescue crews are shoring the facade of the building, Stewart said in her latest update at 10:37 a.m.

The Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety has yellow tagged the business for conditional use, Stewart added, but neighboring businesses are not affected.
