A dispute between an employee and a customer led to a shooting Monday afternoon at a South Los Angeles restaurant.

A customer and an employee got into some type of argument at Carolyn’s Kitchen at 853 East Manchester Ave. around 4:30 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Street station.

The customer went outside, came back inside and shot at the employee.

The employee armed himself and fired back to defend the other customers, police said.

A passing bus was struck, but no injuries were reported.

Two people were struck inside the restaurant — one person was hit in the stomach and another person was hit in the leg.

The extent of their injuries are unknown.
