There are those Pixar people who must (must must) catch a new trailer from a much-awaited flick on the day it debuts, or, yes, even at the very happening-now moment of its release.
And then, in a different but adjacent camp, there are those who want to wait to see the whole movie, in its entirety, when it finally debuts in theaters.
But suffice it to say that whatever Pixar-adoring camp you consider yourself to be a part of, your anticipation for a fresh flick is as high as a house held aloft by hundreds of balloons, or, even higher, like a plane carrying The Incredibles or robot flying in space.
Enter “Coco,” the upcoming work from the Emeryville-based animation outfit, a film that joyfully, and with much emotion, delves into the tender and timeless customs of Día de los Muertos.
The release date is Nov. 22, 2017, but those fans who’ve watched the trailer a dozen times, with tissues nearby, as well as those Pixar aficionados who haven’t but still want to enter that enchanted, family-strong, adventure-hopeful world, should ponder calling upon Disney California Adventure in Anaheim beginning on Friday, Sept. 15.
That’s when a “New Seasonal Experience,” set to run through Nov. 2, 2017, will take “…inspiration from the traditional Mexican holiday, Día de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead.” Visitors can count on seeing gorgeous folk art displays, finding delish eats, and discovering more merriment in the park, merriment that will include a full-on Sugar Skull Car set to appear inside Cars Land.
And starting on Nov. 5? A sneak peek of “Coco” will screen inside “a bug’s land,” if you just can’t wait (understandable).
Do you also plan to giddy-up for Frontierland in Disneyland Park during the Sept. 15 through Nov. 2 window?
Look for a colorful calacas display, one that puts the skeleton-celebratory elements of the come-together holiday at the festive forefront.
