Authorities on Friday identified a man accused of beating the popular pastor of the Faith Center in San Fernando, where the suspect was a former church member.

Pastor Rudy Trujillo, 61, was attacked by a male suspect while exiting his vehicle around 11 a.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of North Maclay Avenue near the church, officials said.

In a press release issued Friday, the San Fernando Police Department identified the suspect as Henry Dominguez Chacon, a 53-year-old Pacoima resident.

Chacon is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 210 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

The pastor leads the Faith Center in San Fernando. Authorities said the motive for the attack is unclear.

Chacon was identified through witness interviews and video footage, according to police.

San Fernando police urged Chacon to contact them “in order to provide his statement.”

On Thursday, Rudy Trujillo’s son Josh Trujillo, 34, of Sylmar, said his father underwent successful surgery for a broken hip.

A Stop The Violence event set for 7 p.m. March 29 at the Faith Center, 777 N. Maclay Ave., is still set to take place, Josh Trujillo said on Thursday.

“Knowing him he will probably be there,” Josh Trujillo said with a laugh. “I don’t know. He might show up.”

The son added he had been “literally receiving hundreds of messages over the last 24 hours” since the news broke on Thursday about his father. “So much that I can’t keep up. It’s been non stop.”
