Lockdown Lifted at Middle School Following Man With Gun Call

A Van Nuys middle school was placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after authorities received reports of a man with a gun.

Plain-clothes officers were on scene with students at the middle school located at 5435 Vesper Ave. 

The armed man, who is currently in a dispute with his wife, was searching for his child. 

He reportedly left the campus, but the school remained on lockdown, according to LAPD.

The lockdown was lifted around 5 p.m. No suspect and no weapon were found, police said. 

No injuries were reported.
