Though they appear only infrequently these days, Westerns are one of the most beloved of Hollywood genres, and two little-seen examples have recently made home video appearances.
“Western Union,” released by Kino-Lorber, has a not-unusual brother v. brother plot, but the fact that it’s directed by Fritz Lang and co-stars Randolph Scott with future “Father Knows Best” star Robert Young places it outside the ordinary.
Also unusual is “Wagon Tracks,” released by Olive Films, a rarely seen silent Western top-lined by one of the original cowboy stars, the great William S. Hart. – Kenneth Turan
