A Los Angeles photographer is using his headshot studio to take free photos of rescued pit bulls. The photos will be used in a book with the hopes of showing people that pit bulls are just as loving as other breeds of dog. Headshots Melrose owner Peter Michelena adopted a pit bull and fell in love with the breed. Proceeds from items using the dog photos will benefit animal rescues and charities.

More than 53,000 pets were adopted through the 2016 Clear the Shelters campaign, a nationwide push to place deserving animals in forever homes. Join the conversation on social media using #ClearTheShelters.
