BOYLE HEIGHTS >> A man was shot and killed in an officer-involved shooting Saturday that forced the closure of the Metro Gold Line Soto Station in Boyle Heights.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.

Los Angeles police confirmed there was an officer-involved shooting just after midnight in Boyle Heights near First and Soto streets, but declined to give any details.

Witnesses said a man was shot as he ran away near the Soto Station.

The Metro Gold Line Soto Station was closed due to police activity, according to Metro Spokesman Jose Ubaldo.

Metro has established emergency bus shuttle service for riders between the Mariachi Plaza and Indiana stations, Ubaldo said.

Riders also were urged to use the Metro bus line 30 to get to their destinations.

The station will remain closed until the LAPD concludes its investigation, Ubaldo said.
